About the Project

In vertical sectors such as manufacturing, oil and gas, and mining, increasing safety awareness is driving the growth of the flame detector market.

EFD is from Korea, a manufacturer and exporter specializing in optical flame detectors. The parts they require is used for fire detection and is suitable for industrial and military environments, flammable material storage warehouses, the pharmaceutical industry, as well as oil and gas exploration, production, storage, and unloading applications.

The Challenges

From the initial drawings to mass production, we needed to overcome many challenges. The optical flame detector is an assembly composed of multiple metal and optical components. Each part requires strict tolerance control and compliance with industry standards. Throughout the process, we must ensure seamless integration of the entire system while maintaining both quality and cost efficiency.

We first sent samples to EFD for testing. After inspection, the customer reported two issues:

When assembling the threaded washer with the internal thread of the housing, there was a noticeable gap at the bottom, which affected the installation of the sapphire windows.
A gap was found between the housing base and the 2-M20x1.5 cable entry, which affected the insertion depth of the cable connector.

The Solution

With decades of CNC machining experience, a mature engineering team and advanced technology, we have successfully solved these challenges through the following measures.

Provided suggestions for modifying the customer's drawings to ensure the product can be successfully produced
Confirmed the dimensions of the sapphire window sheet, and we produced the corresponding aluminum sheet for full inspection
Used four-axis milling machine to manufacture parts, ensuring the perpendicularity, flatness and tolerance of the parts
Improved the smoothness, corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of the parts by manual polishing and electrolytic polishing
Produced parts in strict accordance with our quality audit system to ensure the stability of product quality

We actively communicated with customers and solved many problems from design to production process. In this project, we adhered to the attitude of responsibility to customers and products, and fulfilled the customer’s requirement for 1000 units.
